Most roof repairs fall into a handful of categories. Knowing which one you've got helps you understand the fix.
Missing, slipped and broken tiles or slates
Tiles and slates can slip when their fixings corrode or the battens behind them rot, and they can crack from frost or impact. We replace or re-fix them and check the neighbouring courses so the problem doesn't spread.
Leaks around chimneys
The joint between a chimney and the roof is one of the most common leak points. Failed flashing, cracked flaunching or perished mortar all let water in. One customer had flashing replaced around a leaking chimney and several cracked tiles found on closer inspection, with photos to prove it.
Ridge and verge repairs
Mortar on ridges and verges breaks down over time and can let tiles loosen. We can re-bed them, or upgrade to a dry ridge or dry verge system that is mechanically fixed.
Storm damage
High winds lift tiles, bring down ridges and damage flashings. We make the roof safe and weathertight first, then carry out the permanent repair.
Valleys and flashings
Where two roof slopes meet, or where a roof meets a wall, water is channelled through valleys and flashings. When these fail, leaks can appear some distance from the actual problem, which is why we trace it properly.
